Anne Hathaway Brings Devil Wears Prada Cerulean Blue to 2024 SAG Awards: 'What Color Would You Say This Is?' (2024)

Anne Hathaway just shut down the 2024 SAG Awards red carpet in a look that would even make Miranda Priestly proud.

The Oscar winner wowed in a jaw-dropping archival Versace dress featuring an oversize belt, solidifying her status as not only a movie star but fashion industry It girl. And the dress also was a direct nod to the hit 2006 film, Devil Wears Prada —fittingly, as she was due to reunite onstage with her Devil Wears Prada co-stars, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, 18 years after the beloved film was made.

"What color would you say this is?" Hathaway asked E!'s Live from the Red Carpet host Laverne Cox of her striking column gown, to which Cox knowingly responded, "Would it be cerulean blue?"

Of course, the exchange and Hathaway's dress color is honoring the iconic Devil Wears Prada scene where her character Andy Sachs gets schooled by Miranda Priestly on the shades of blue.

"I'm thrilled," Hathaway told Cox of the reception the film still gets. "I don't think any of us can believe to watch the way it's grown over the decades."

The actress jetted back from Milan Fashion Week — where she delivered another high-fashion moment in a red leather corset dress.

While in Milan, Hathaway also had a real life encounter with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who is said to have inspired Streep's character Miranda Priestly in the 2006 movie.

The pair exchanged pleasantries front row at the Versace fashion show, in an interaction that felt like we were watching a mini reboot of the film.

"Can you breathe?" Wintour asked Hathaway in the clip.

"Very easily. I can't turn but I can breathe," Hathaway answered, with a laugh.

The multi-hyphenate became a Versace muse last year, fronting the Italian label's spring 2023 Icons campaign. Since then, she's worn a number of sexy Versace numbers, including her custom white look at the 2023 Met Gala which was fastened with gold safety pins.

"What has left the biggest impression on me from this amazing experience is Donatella's heart, generosity, and kindness," Hathaway has said of working with the brand. "She and everyone in the Versace Family have been so incredibly welcoming and supportive of me, for which I am very grateful. What a thrill to be a Versace woman!"

Hathaway collaborates with stylist Erin Walshon her red carpet wardrobe, telling PEOPLE last year that she's never had more fun with fashion.

“In this moment everybody's taking risks and I feel like there's more than one way to do it right now, which means that you don't have to hit a mark, you just have to be yourself — and that feels wonderful," she shared."Erin and I believe that style is an expression, and I trust her, which makes me feel like I can be braver. We don't take it too seriously. This isn't a dress rehearsal; this is life. I was given so many things at such a young age, and I didn't always know how to appreciate them. I felt badly about myself in certain things, and I didn't know how to enjoy what I was wearing. Now I'm wearing things that I enjoy, and I'm wearing them gratefully — and that seems to be working."

Hathaway, who was named an ambassador for the Japanese skincare brand Shiseido last fall, also opened up about her approach to wellness, aging and skincare in her 40s.

“In my 30s, I had to give up alcohol. I couldn't do it anymore. I couldn't lead the life that I wanted while drinking. And in my 40s I'm finding I have to support myself differently nutritionally," she told PEOPLE. "I want to go back and talk to my 25-year-old self who felt like she didn't have to do anything and just be like, ‘Oh honey, honey, there's a whole other world out there and it tastes like an avocado.’”

As for aging, she recognizes it's "personal" for everyone.

“Aging is just another word for living. And what you do with it from there is personal and up to you.I feel great — I feel better than I did in my twenties because I'm taking much better care of myself.”
