Test and evaluate materials with respect to construction specifications and test procedures to ensure the utilization of materials capable of yielding durable finished products

Review and understand the contract drawings and specifications, RFIs, PCOs, testing procedures

Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify

Assisting with field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used

Establish and maintain productive relationship with contractor supervisors to ensure that materials are properly handled and applied and that corrections in procedure are promptly made

Monitor asphalt plants and pit operations to ensure that quality construction materials are used in construction projects.\

Researches and interprets contract requirements to determine whether construction work is performed in substantial compliance with plans, specifications and special provisions

Review drawings, specifications and manuals to prepare for the inspection

Prepare inspectors' daily reports and other project related reports, as-built

Manage community relationships local government organizations

Must have strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in teams

Asphalt Paving Levels I and II

Concrete Field Inspection Certification

Earthwork Construction Inspector Level I

5+ years of experience performing highway construction inspection duties

Must be able to read, write, comprehend and fluently speak the English language

• Observe work in progress to ensure conformity with engineering specifications
• Use prescribed methods to perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment

• Participates in weekly construction meetings, keeps and submits to the Project Manager daily detailed photographic
• 10+ years construction or construction inspection experience of vertical structures (buildings) with demonstrated experience specific to facility interior renovations encompassing mechanical, electrical, structural, plumbing, fire suppression, life/health/safety, and finishes as typically arise in such projects

Responsibilities for construction inspector

• Conduct daily observation of construction work for compliance with approved contract drawings, specifications, Requests for Information (RFI’s), Change Orders and submittals and shop drawings
• Coordinate and monitor testing activities, reports, corrective actions and/or manufacturer’s approvals for installed materials and/or equipment

• Must have experience reviewing construction cost estimates in RS Means
• Must have experience working with construction scheduling systems (Microsoft Project and Primavera for example)
• Must be able to demonstrate familiarity with OSHA standards relevant to construction site safety
• Must be able to access confined and restricted spaces to accomplish inspection activities typical to those encountered in a closed, construction environment
• Must possess or be able to obtain a SECRET level DOD security clearance
• Experience with Microsoft Office software required

• Secondary education in an Engineering related field
• Ability to read and understand technical documents such as Process and Instrument Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams, easem*nts, leases, licenses
• Experience with large-scale construction projects
• MTRB certification
