Whilst we’re all busy celebrating the return of spring, there’s one thing that brings many of us less joy – hayfever season. The pollen count has been rapidly rising, which means those of us with hayfever are already struggling with symptoms.

Arguably one of the worst hayfever signs is sore, swollen and itchy eyes, which only get worse the more you rub or dab them. As I’m no stranger to the dreaded allergy eyes, I’ve tried and tested plenty of products over the years. But there’s one I keep coming back to time and time again; Peep Club’s Instant Relief Eye Spray, which you can pick up for £15.

I first came across this when I spotted Trinny Woodall using it during a flight. The beauty icon shared a list of her must-have skincare products for flying, and it included this refreshing eye spray.

Since then this Instant Relief Eye Spray has become one of the things I rarely leave the house without. It’s travelled all over the world with me to tackle dry eyes on flights (that recycled air is no one’s friend), lived in my handbag during spring and summer’s pollen seasons, and helped me out on holiday when dry heat and excess air con has left my eyes feeling sore and tired.

It’s the perfect handbag-sized saviour for dry, itchy and sore eyes, and the 17ml bottle means you can just as easily throw it in your pocket or handbag as you can your carry on luggage. The Instant Relief Eye Spray has been clinically proven to relive redness, irritation, itchiness, watering, heavy tired lids and that gritty sensation you get, and not only works on your external eyelid but on the under eye skin too.

It contains two main active ingredients; colourless sea buckthorn oil and sodium hyaluronate. These work together to moisturise, restore and soothe your whole eye area, and it’s totally alcohol- and preservative-free, as well as being vegan and organic.

You can use it on super sensitive skin – I get eczema around my eyes and this actually helps it, rather than flaring it up – and it’s fine for contact lens wearers to use it too. You can even spray the Instant Relief Eye Spray over your makeup too, just make sure your makeup has been dry for at least 10 minutes before you apply it.

It’s also quick and easy to use – just close your eyes and spray it from around 15 to 20cm away, then press it down, give each eye one to two sprays and then open your eyes. It’s also safe to use as often as needed.

Reviewers have also praised it, with one saying: “ Easy to apply (even to myself) and gives instant and lasting relief to tired, dry eyes.”

Another added: “I suffer from dry eyes and this spray has worked miracles! I no longer have problems opening my eyes in the morning and it’s a pleasure to use as so refreshing.”

Some did find it tricky to use, with one writing: “The application is difficult to adminster on your eyes, it needs a hard push down on the spray applicator and you need to spray it on with your eye closed it prob would be better someone else doing it... once applied it gives great relief and soothing..”

Other options include the Optrex Actimist 10 ml Eye Spray, which is usually priced at £15.99 but is currently reduced to £9.60 on Amazon. The HayMax Pure Organic Drug-Free Allergen Barrier Balm, £8.49, is also great for preventing pollen from reaching your eyes; simply apply it around your nostrils and around your eye bones (not too close to your eye) to help trap allergens before they reach your nose and eyes.
