Luz Clawthorne Presents Helluva Dad Chapter 12 »
RecapLoona along with Kajedo and Carrie goes to hang out with some Wrath Teens. Meanwhile, Moxxie manages to get more recruits.
Tropes that appear in this Chapter:
- Alternate Species Counterpart:
- Kajedo's family, who are all based on the Pinkjoys and the Pies, turn up at the beginning as Kajey joins in working at the quarry.
- Ember and her friends are the Hellborn versions of Wendy's gang, with Hurston the imp being Robbie's counterpart, Zumi the succubus being Tambry's, hellcat Chat and beagle hellhound Pax being Lee and Nate, and Shawn the Baphemot being the Thompson.
- Call-Back: Like Andrea, Kajedo has some previous experience with breaking and entering.
- Cheaters Never Prosper: Blitz and Amaroq quickly resort to cheating in every board game they play, with Amaroq calling Blitz out for it and shaming him when he calls her out. Eventually, Douglas decides they're both too competitive and suggests a game that isn't.
- Clothing-Concealed Injury: Due to the night she had with Chase, Penzi has to wear stocking to hide the marks on her legs.
- Continuity Nod:
- Blitz grounded Loona and Amaroq for the Death Race in the previous chapter.
- Loona remembers her encounter with Alastor.
- Demonic Possession: Menace possesses Shawn after he steps onto the altar, and then possesses Pax without anyone realizing.
- The Dreaded: Merely mentioning Alastor's name sends a chill to Loona's spine.
- Enemy Mine: With low numbers to fight off the Demon Apes, Moxxie agrees to enlist the Knights of Hell to Angerton's cause in a heartbeat when Cain volunteers them even if they're just as bad as the Apes.
- Expy:
- Since Kajedo's the established Pinkie Pie, her parents are based on Igneous Rock and Cloudy Quartz, Rocksie of Limestone, Petra of Marble, and Opal of Maud.
- F.K. Menace is one to Phantom from "Phantom Manor", and Ivo Shandor.
- The Ghost: Tex texts Kajedo in the beginning, mentioning that he'll be dropping in at the Harvest Festival.
- Heh Heh, You Said "X": Kajedo has this reaction after everyone learns she's in the farmhouse when Carrie says...
Carrie: Kajedo?! You scared the Dickens out of us!
Kajedo: Hehe, dickens. - Internal Reveal:
- Amaroq meets Striker, Douglas, and Penzi, and she and Loona both meet Wesley for the first time.
- Both hellhounds are both formally introduced to Chase, with Moxxie also meeting him.
- Max and Ember learn that Loona knows Verosika and recommended Tex as a bodyguard to her.
- Amaroq meets Striker, Douglas, and Penzi, and she and Loona both meet Wesley for the first time.
- Puppy-Dog Eyes: Subverted in them actually working. Amaroq tries to use them on Blitz so he'll teach her how to shoot a gun, but because Loona used them on him so much, he's become immune to them, making Amaroq Resort to Pouting.
- Really Gets Around: At the end of the day, Chase has a threesome with Carla and Mayor Dirk before sending Dirk off to resume his work, then getting ready for another round with Carla.
- The Reveal:
- Kajedo is working at her family's rock farm during her stay in Wrath. She's the only one of her friends to leave Wrath, and there's a reason she's staying longer than the other times.
- Carla survived the Death Race, and is now the Knights of Hell's prisoner. Stu and his crew also survived.
- Max had a sister, and is in denial about the news of her death.
- Unlike the succubi of Pride and Lust, those of Wrath are capable of using their wings to fly. Interestingly, Max can fly despite being from Lust.
- Carrie's entire family perished in a freak storm, and she is putting off her dream of becoming a teacher as she isn't ready to leave their farm without making sure it's in good hands.
- Sequel Hook:
- To get some weapons, Moxxie is now in debt to Crimson.
- Tomorrow is the Demon Apes attack on Angerton.
- Shout-Out:
- Ember sings "You Give A Little Love" while the Wrathian teens and Loona are hanging out.
- It's noted that Hurston's family perished in a knife storm, a type of freaky weather occurrence in Wrath.
- Kajedo and her friends sing "Thriller" in order to defeat Menace and his zombies.
- The Un-Reveal:
- The short imp biker has a southern accent, and killed a group of Demon Apes without breaking a sweat. Is she Millie?
- What happened to Douglas' mother? Whatever it was, it's a sensitive subject for Striker.
- What Is This Feeling?: Moxxie has an implied feeling of jealousy from seeing Wesley wanting to learn how to shoot from Striker instead of him.
- Whole-Plot Reference: Menace possessing Shawn causes this chapter to devolve into this to "The Inconveniencing".
- You Are Grounded!: Carrie told Blitzo about what happened at the Death Race, so he grounds Loona and Amaroq and refuses to let them out of his sight. Loona manages to get out of her grounding by throwing Amaroq under the bus.
